Under the red lanterns (Taipei)
Under the red lanterns

Soft music
repairs a torn net
last century's lament
to be able to write emotions
sing them
hear them
years later in a park.
You sit
as solid as stone
pen in your hand
the table blank
thoughts ready to be scripted.
Could I have known you
in my youth?
How generations pass
how we connect
yesterday and tomorrow.
Sweet taste of tomato
on my tongue
the polished stone
a place to rest
the fragrance of New Year's Day
surrounds us.
I look at you
listen to your words heart-sung
...until all is silent...
under the red lanterns.
