Memorial days

This flag only waves—at the winds' discretion.
Respectful poppies wave—a-bloom in their plots.
Be grateful—whisper comrades—asleep where they dropped.
As all in the land—stand still at attention.

Now poppies send out flowers—to spite the drought
when depression comes to those who can only grieve
from suppression of the truth—they refuse to see
as cedars lift umbrellas—shields from snows or rains.

This flag only waves—at the winds' discretion,
as comrades sleep with poppies—where hatred died,
where cedars lift green limbs to empty skies.
As all in the land—stand still at attention.
