Autumn Mornings

The crisp air and sunshine
promise another beautiful autumn day,
while singing birds and calmness
embrace mind, body, and soul.

My front door
and spirit are open
to the possibilities
of joyful encounters with
other human beings.

I inhale
the morning freshness
contemplating
both year's end and day's beginnings.

Mindful
of the slow passage
of autumn mornings,
and the swift flow
of autumn days,
I pause
to whisper a prayer
of gratitude.
