Thanksgiving Memories

Memories of Thanksgiving
bring tears of joy and sadness,
happy recollections
of family
whose souls have ascended
to the spiritual realm.

Thanksgiving memories
cause me to smile
when I recall
Grandma's homemade pumpkin pie
and oyster dressing.

Turkey and dressing,
mashed potatoes and gravy,
cranberry sauce,
pumpkin pie with whipped cream:
memories of food
that Grandma
and Mama cooked together.
