Three Las Vegas Poems
Jamál (Beauty), 18 Qawl (Speech) 174 B.E. - Sunday, December 10, 2017

Here are three Las Vegas poems that I about 27 or 28 years ago. I had forgotten about them until I cleaned out a box of stuff that I have moved twice since 2014. I am posting them in this blog for your reading enjoyment.

Las Vegas Cauldron

As temperatures
and tempers rise
Las Vegas becomes a cauldron.

Las Vegas Riddle

I have never know,
the beauty of true nigh,
the distant stars
pale before my dancing lights.

Golden dream,
echo within my towers of glass,
reflective silence,
drowned out by tinkling brass.

I hear the laughter,
of lost and hopeless souls,
harsh bitter laughter,
of my false reality.

Las Vegas Slots

Lights reflecting from night's dark waters,
Are beacons guiding lost and forgetful souls,
Seeking coins in the exigencies of matter.

Virtues raining out of fruit machines,
Eating metal sandwiches don't sate their hunger,
Giving back what they can't digest,
Always keeping more than what the give,
Seducing with the promise of quick riches.
