Tuesday Talk: Writing Kit
Tuesday, January 9, 2018

“Every secret of a writer’s soul, every experience of his life, every quality of his mind, is written large in his works.”
Virginia Woolf

In Sally 's entry yesterday ("Invalid Entry), her use of the term "writing kit" had me intrigued. Do you have a physical set of tools you rely on (certain pens/pencils, notebooks, etc.)? Different websites you rely on for particulars? Maybe even mood-setting accouterments like music or candles? What's your scene?
Writing Kit

I write
therefore I am:
Do I have a writing kit?
Do I have a writing plan?

I have a loose-leaf notebook, a dream journal, at least two pens, prayer book, and smartphone on the bedside stand. On my computer desk I have a small notepad, a blank journal, a pen, a prayer book, and a small book of scriptures. Before I begin my morning writing session I place a cup of coffee on a wooden television stand beside the desk (normally I don't place my coffee on my computer desk), a snack of some type, and my phone on the desk. Before I begin writing (any time of day) I say a prayer. Sometimes I read a short passage from the scripture book, and other times I read an on-line article or listen to music on YouTube.

I don't sleep straight through the night. I sleep two or three hours and then I wake up. When I wake up, either turn on the light (next to my bed) and write, or I open an app on my phone and read. It doesn't matter which I chose to do because either will let me go back to sleep without much of a problem.
