Deadlines

“Are you aware that rushing toward a goal is a sublimated death wish? It's no coincidence we call them 'deadlines'.”
Tom Robbins, Half Asleep in Frog Pajamas

The "Blog City ~ Every Blogger's Paradise prompt for DAY 1489
How do you respond under pressure...deadlines, due dates, tests, etc.?

I have a love-hate relationship with deadlines, sometimes I love them and other times I despise them. I'm not exactly sure what causes each emotion to occur. What I do know is that when I hate them I procrastinate, and tell myself that I work better under pressure. The truth is I don't work well under pressure because I panic. When I panic, I procrastinate. When I procrastinate, I play online solitaire games, which just makes the pressure worse. The worse the pressure, the less cooperative my muse.

I read somewhere, that we have the Romans or some other middle age or pre-middle age empire to think for deadlines. The reason it is called a deadline, is that the soldiers would put all the prisoners in one spot and draw a circle around them. When they had more prisoners than would fit in the circle those outside the circle would be killed.
