I'm weary;

Another week, another senseless violent US school shooting...this time, with a twist: a journalist rushing to the scene of a shooting in Kentucky arrived to find out her son was the alleged shooter  . I realize this may be very difficult to fathom, but how do you know where the lines are and when to cross them...when the entire situation involves your job, your family, and a serious crime committed by a family member?

You don't know where to draw the line until you're confronted with a situation like this. Once you find out the situation, and who the suspects are you have to make the decision. Since I've never been confronted with a situation even remotely similar, I can only suggest three options. First, you can follow your intuition (gut instinct), and let it direct you. Second, you can call your boss and ask him to send someone else because you have a personal involvement with the suspect. Third, you can go into automatic, and continue doing your job without considering anything else, until after you've finished the assignment.
