A Call for Unity

The call has gone out for unity,
For putting aside
Our prejudices and hates.

The call has gone out to humanity,
To work together
As the citizens of Earth.

Contemplating Humanity's Unity

I contemplate the unity
Of humanity,
A single multi-colored species,
And I give thanks
For the revelation of Baha'u'llah
Because His scriptures
Confirm the solidarity of humankind.

Writing Theme for 2018: Unity

My writing theme
For 2018
Is unity.

Unity in the community
Of humanity
On the planet Earth.

My 2018 focus
Is the various aspects
Of unity,
One of which is planetary peace.

The End of the First Week in January 2018

Saturday,

The end of the week,

Time to contemplate achievements,

And consider the plan for the coming workweek.

Saturday,

A day of rest

Or a day to play;

Pause before sunset

And say a prayer of gratitude.

Saturday,

The end of the week,

Today is the end of the first week in 2018,

Consider the accomplishments you have made,

And everything you hope to accomplish this year.

Rainy Tuesday

I meditate

On the sound of raindrops

Striking the asphalt

Of Sunrise Avenue.

Rain at last!

Cleaning the air,

Sending chills of joy

Through my mind.

I intone a prayer of gratitude

For this rainy Tuesday.

On the Day of Glory

On the Day of Glory

I contemplate the reed pen

Used by Baha'u'llah.

On the Day of Glory

I am awestruck

By the revelation that flowed

Through this glorious instrument.

On the Day of Glory

I breath a prayer of gratitude

For the Glory of God

And a simple reed pen.

Womb World

Our consciousness,

Like a child in the womb,

Grows each hour,

Each day.

Humanity is moving

Toward a new vision of unity,

A vision of itself

As a single species.

Beyond the concepts

Of differences

And separation

We are one race

And the Earth is one country.

Beneath the dogmas

God is a single unknowable essence,

Who shines through the prism

Of His Manifestations,

And gave us the religions

We acknowledge

And follow today.

Thankful Thursday: I Give Thanks

I give thanks for parsnips,

Carrots,

And beets.

I give thanks for clouds,

Blue skies,

And snow on Mount Charleston.

I give thanks for the revelation

Of Baha'u'llah,

Who proclaimed the unity

Of the human race.

I Weep

I read the local,

The national,

The international news

And I weep.

I cry for the heartlessness

Revealed in the treatment

Of women,

Children,

And men

Because they are

From different countries,

Profess a different religion,

Or are considered

One of Them

Instead of one of Us.

Rushed

I feel rushed!

I have writing,

And other stuff

To catch up.

I need to take a deep breath,

Pause to say a prayer,

Check the mailbox,

And continue writing.

Feeling rushed

Just encourages writer's block.

Sunday Speculations on the Last Sunday in January 2018

Sunday afternoon

Sun is shining wind blowing

A new week begins

A new week begins

And I contemplate my goals

I have established twelve goals

Is that too many

Or too few to accomplish

Within seven days

Is my blog in a rut?

Yes, because all I'm doing is writing poetry without stating the forms or experimenting with new poetry forms. There are hundreds of forms that I could be using, but the only forms I have worked with, in this blog, are free verse and free style. I define those as different forms.

Free verse contains no end rhyme, while free style contains end rhyme. Sometime free verse contains internal rhyme, but this is an accident. The rhyme in free style is not random, all though sometimes it appears that way.

I need to get out of my rut, therefore, I have to take a different approach to my blog entries. My goal for this blog, is to post at least three times a week. I think the best way to do this, while getting out of my rut is to compose the entry a day or two before so that I can research a poetry form. I, also, need to write about other, poetry related subjects.
