Blue Madonna

Dolci's Blue Madonna
sits at my desk
eyes downcast, a silent banshee
holding ancient knowledge
potent and deep.
When I cannot sleep
I come to sit with her.
Our unmasked fears,
unnumbered sorrows
rise like grey mist
in the night.
We both stay silent
and remain with our pain.
