Food, Food, Let's Eat
A week from today is World Food Day . What is your favorite food? What about when you were a child? Feel free to share a recipe, and if you do, make sure to post it into "The WDC Cookbook" as well. *Smile*

Manx Cat from Japan

Food is my nemesis. When I was young I did not like to eat. Too busy. No choices. Now, I can have lots of good things. I really don't like to cook but, I love to eat.

Salmon Patties:

Canned Salmon: Open can. drain. remove white and dark skin from fish discard. (This is because the skin adds a really strong flavor to the meat. You can leave it on if you like the flavor. Just more protein.

In a bowl add salmon, one egg, and a handful of whole oat, oatmeal. Mix together well. Fry in a pan with your favorite oil. You can add a pat of butter for flavor if you like it. These can be baked in a bowl or fried thin or fat however you like patties.

Recently found this for breakfast in Plant Based Cookbookby Trish Sebben-Krupka (an eBook on Amazon) I kind of used their recipe with some changes.
4 cups of whole rolled oats (not instant)
1 tsp. cinnamon
1/4 cup maple syrup
1/4 cup guava
1/4 cup shelled pumpkin seeds also other favorite nuts as well I use walnuts
1/2 cup of raisins (I used cranraisins

In a bowl mix rolled oats plus 1/2 cup of oil (they use grape-seed oil, I used olive oil) , Guava and Maple Syrup. Making sure it is well mixed then pour out on a baking sheet. Bake at 300 degrees for 20 to 25 minutes until golden in color. Pour back into bowl stir in all nuts and raisins. Stir thoroughly, cool well. Transfer to a tightly sealed glass jar. Store in refrigerator. Eat at leisure as a snack or cereal.

The original recipe in the book has suggestions for nutty Chocolate granola and coconut granola. I'm thinking coconut oil would be good to take the place of what I used.

Truthfully my favorite foods can be all kinds of cheese, cottage cheese and potato chips but I try to keep away from them on a constant basis and there are so many good fruits and snacks out there that are much better for you.
