Yearly Goals and Plans...

My year starts at Naw-Ruz, the first day of Spring.

1. To be published and taken seriously. I was supposed to be further along by now but I did make progress in April. I have a couple cheerleaders checking in on me and other writers have been supportive.
2. I always have a goal of one-a-day poems. Last year I wrote about 361. This year I'll do the same.
3. To travel... like the last 10 years... somewhere old, somewhere new. No definite plans yet. Last year I visited Costa Rica (twice), Taiwan, México*, Norway, Sweden, Turkey*, Austria*, Slovenia*, Italy* and Switzerland*. *Six new countries. I'm up to 41. I'd like to reach 50. If not this year, next.
4. Learn how to ask for help.
5. To stay connected. May seem easy, but I withdraw and have had to force myself to maintain connections with families and friends.

Goals are airy-fairy without measurable objectives.

1. monthly objectives of 5 poems or 5 submissions of 5 poems. Y'see, that's the rub.
2. easy-peasy. I have numbered my offerings over the years. I wrote #68 this evening. I'm ahead of schedule (41). Also, I make lists.
3. not quite so easy this year, but I am quite aware of new places and places I want to revisit. I'll go back to Costa Rica; not sure when.
4. I have asked two friends to help with writing. I should ask for help to clean and un-clutter my place. Shame gets in the way. And I could use $50,000 to go around the world (Southern Hemisphere) with Road Scholars. I know some wealthy people or could apply for grants or maybe set up a go-fund-me page (but I hate begging...).
5. Probably need to set up a phone, postcard, message list. Otherwise I'll think nice thoughts and my non-telepathic friends won't receive them.

Blogging every day may actually help. It has in the past.

IMAGES for April 30th: sunny, cold, "burning water", chatter in the alley, itchy legs, cottage cheese and honey, deep blue and grey.
ACCOMPLISHMENTS: 1. Went to writing group and 2. read 3 of my poems. 3. Attended a reading. 4. Saw friends at Sr. Ctr. 5. Wrote a poem.

Phone call

20 years?
It's only been 20 since I've seen you?
I should rejoice.
Out of 2,000 that's just a blink!
Yes... I'm still a youth...
I think! And yes,
it seems like yesterday when we last embraced
on Sirius 5
(not knowing it was good bye). Say Hi!
to the others.

No, I won't stay long.
I need to go back home; it's been centuries.
You know how I like to travel.
This universe gleams a thousand colors our eyes can't see, Zmitri.
And I want to feel them all.

Yes, let's go out for dinner.
No, I still can't hold my liquor.
(your smile is my only lifeline)
Steak and potatoes?
Fine.
