Midnight and Dawn

It is in the silent hours
of midnight and dawn
when my soul,
seeking communion with the Beloved,
awakens me.


Without turning on the light,
I reach for my smartphone,
access my Baha'i Prayer app,
and chose a prayer
by either Baha'u'llah or 'Abdu'l-Baha.

If it is midnight,
I chose the Midnight prayer,
and at dawn I chose the Dawn prayer.

I read the words aloud
and connect my soul
to the All-Glorious Lord.
