Single Sentences

Only a few hours ago I wrote about timelines. And how I did them in my Treatments and scripts. Now I’m going to write about the single sentences. What they are? And are they only single sentences? Unlike the timelines, I used them both in my Outlines and Treatments. I even use them in the planning process that I use too.

So, what is a single sentence? It’s what it looks like. It is a sentence about what is going to happen in that Act or scene depending on if they are in my Outline or Treatment. From those single sentences, I write my single paragraphs for my Outlines and Treatments. And those paragraphs are my Outlines and Treatments. The Treatments are then used to write my scripts.

Do I need to write an Outline and Treatment for a movie or an episode? I think that you do. At least that what I do. And as you can read, there is a lot of re-writing and planning to do. Image if you are in the middle of a script and you suddenly realize something is wrong. It’s not just that, though.

What if suddenly you can’t remember what you wrote twenty, thirty pages ago or worse? You don’t know where it is? It takes time to go back and find what’s wrong or what you can’t remember. A Treatment doesn’t eliminate all those possible problems. But it can help a whole lot.

Why am I writing about single sentences in my blog entry for today? It’s because I’m returning to work today. That means I’m going back to working on the Outlines and Treatments for my Water Wars scriptwriting project. I’m going to start on the first four episodes Outlines. Then I will start working on my Treatments. I don’t know how many of the episodes I will get done today. I’m hoping that I can get all four of them written. But I’m not going to count on that happening until it does.
