I Chronicles 21/ backup to Proverbs4

This book is a Hoot! *Snow4*

Good Morning: At least a foot of snow fell in the night. Now a wind is blowing and temperatures are suppose to gradually rise in the next few days. The snow is heavy, wet and the air isn't cold feeling I expect some melting to occur. Stay warm.

Prompt Wednesday, December 2, 2020, Begin Chapter 4

Proverbs 4:1-3 Acquire Wisdom

1. Hear, ye children, the instruction of a father, and attend to know understanding.

2. For I give you good doctrine, forsake ye not my law.

3. For I was my father's son, tender and only beloved in the sight of my mother.

NOTE: from my Bible

Ch 4:1-27 Wisdom provides many benefits: watchcare and honor (vv.1-9); guidance in the way of righteousness (vv.10-19}; and life, health, and integrity (vv.20-27).

1. ye children = O sons. attend = Give attention.

2. Law = instruction.

I think of Solomon here. Perhaps he has visited the children’s quarters. (because he had more than one wife and concubines. I’m thinking there may have been special rooms or a nursery for the children.). Or, he may have called his sons together for instruction. He has perhaps been hearing some childlike grumbles around the palace about his authority or his partnership with God and his love of the wisdom given by the Holy Spirit.

There is a story in 1Chronicles 21 about the sin committed by David the king when Solomon was a child. Then starting with I Chronicles 22:6 the part about what God intended for Solomon during his reign after David. Because of this story, Solomon was exceedingly glad that God had been in his life since he was a youth instructing him about Wisdom. Perhaps his sons had never heard this story. He was using the story to instruct and declare the benefits of honor before God
