Following your heart, a chance everyone must take.
This was going to be the only opportunity she was going to get, and she knew it. Working on the set of a major motion picture as an assistant, you spend most of your time running errands, you never get close to the actors, and that after all was her goal. Even though it was back breaking grunt work with crazy hours, being part of the crew did get you one or two perks. And tonight was the biggest one, the wrap party. This party would make it possible for her to talk to him without all the distractions.

It took her six months of working on back lots for some of the sleaziest people in this business before the set director for this picture noticed her. She kept her nose clean and did everything she was asked without a complaint. She knew that if she worked her butt off it would work in her favor and she would get what she wanted. She hung around, let her face be seen so that she could work on this movie, and it did pay off. Unfortunatly not as well as she had hoped. she was always kept at arms length, farther away from the actors than she expected. Even when he was asking for someone to pick up the personal items he wanted, she would have happily volunteered but they would never let her. He always had someone from his own staff take care of it for him.
But tonight was her chance. She had been to maybe one or two of these wrap parties, but managed to stay away from most of them on a whole. Not only was there motive behind her wanting to attend tonight party, but it so happens that this party is being held at Miraballa’s, One of the hottest restaurants in the Los Angeles. From what she has heard, there is a two-week waiting list just to get into the place. The director, Michael Robinson rented out the entire restaurant for the evening, and since he and Jack were not only working together on this film they were also very good friends. So there was no way that he would miss this party.
She drove into town earlier in the week, hitting all the elegant shops looking for the perfect dress to wear. She finally found one at this little shop of a new designer, It nearly cost me my whole salary, but it was worth it. It made her look like one of those models in those glamour magazines, and she needed something that would catch his attention. She didn’t want to be running up to him and hanging on him like all those girls that would show up on the sets. She intended to stand back and have him notice her. Hopefully this dress will do that.

Stacy Williams, the make-up and hair designer for the movie was the only person who knew what she was up too. They became good friends during all the down time there is when making a film. Stacy knew how far she had come and how much she sacrificed to get here, so she was willing to help her. She spent the good part of the day helping her get ready. She did her hair and make-up and helped her into her dress. When she looked into the mirror she couldn’t believe what she saw. She thought that she could be starring in a movie herself. No wonder Stacy worked in this business, she could make anyone beautiful, even her.
She had spent the last bit of money she had on renting a limo for the night. Once in the back of the car she settled in for the drive. Staring out the widow watching the cars go by she wondered what she was really doing. She had giving up so much. Her whole life was at a stand still, waiting for this one chance. Was letting her heart rule her life the smartest thing she ever did or was she just following a pipe dream?

It was over a year ago when she saw him for the first time. Actually it was the first time she had ever noticed him. Ooh sure, she knew who he was and how famous he was but he never peaked her interest. She actually thought he was pretty arrogant. He had a sorted affair with the leading actress from his latest movie. She was married so everybody looked at him as the one who broke up the marriage of one of Hollywood’s super couples. He was always very rude to the press, never really answering their questions, almost like he had something to hide. It wasn’t until that affair fell apart when the truth came out, but what amazed her was that it never came from him. When someone asked him about their affair he only had nice things to say about her. It wasn’t until a lengthy interview she gave in one of those magazines months after the affair was over, did we finally here the story. It seemed that her marriage had already fallen apart. They had been living apart for several months before she started working on this movie. She said that their world wind romance was wonderful, but he wanted more than she was ready to give so she broke things off between them. When all along she thought that he dumped her. And still, no matter what the press said or asked him, he never had anything less than a kind word to say about her, when in fact it seems she broke his heart.
That is when she decided to see this movie that started their whole affair. She remembered watching it, staring at him, taking full notice of who he was and his acting ability. Then at the end of the move when he kissed her, she was lost. She was completely lost in that kiss and in him. Just at that moment, that split second right before there lips touched and their eyes closed, she could swear she saw something in his eyes. Something from deep inside him, she still can’t find word to describe it but there was definitely something more there to that scene than just a kiss, more than just acting. That’s when she knew she needed to find out who this man was. Starting on the Internet, she found the basics, where he lived, who he has dated in the past, the fact that he has never been married, and something else, he sang. As a matter of fact he was the lead singer as well as the songwriter in a band that he created some seventeen years ago. Getting that first copy of their latest CD was thrilling. They sounded harsh, raw, but the words were all him. She actually felt that she was listening to his heart. She could hear his loneliness in his word and it stirred something deep in her soul. She could remember not sleeping nights knowing that there was someone out there that was just as lonely as she was. Oh she knew that he could have any women he wanted he was a famous actor, but he never really seemed to be someone that would sleep with anything that walked his way. It was like he was waiting for someone. She convinced herself that it wasn’t her, but there was always hope.
She attended one of his concerts when he was playing in the area. She stood three feet away from him while he sang, she could see the gentle blue of his eyes, the emotions that ran through them as he sang. That’s when she knew she needed to be with him. She left that night in a dream state even though in the morning reality was banging at her door telling her that she was nuts. He would never waist his time on someone like her, but something in her heart was telling her differently. It was saying “what if”. So she walked way from her boring little life to persue something crazy. Even knowing that if this didn’t work out she would probably never be able to go back, she would never be the same person again. But she knew that if she didn’t take this chance she would never be able to get past it. She knew that he would always be in the back of my mind as if he was the dream she never went after, so she had to go.
So here she was sitting in the back of a big black limousine alone, placing her whole life in the hands of just one moment. She thought she surly must be insane, but how many people have said that if they hadn’t persued what was in their heart they would have probably spent their lives wondering what if? She was not about to do that to herself, not this time. She had always done what she was suppose to do, live her life the way her friend and family though she should. This was her time and she was going to go through with this no matter how crazy it was.

The car stopped in front of the restaurant and she heard the driver get out. Her door opened and she stepped out, into the rest of her life.
