This treatise is the result of a visit to church 1-18-09, and a song that became the root for the acrostic Worthy Is The Lamb, on 1-19-09 the second acrostic was gelled into the first.

I Believe
by Steve Cope
05-24-2014

"His mother saith unto the servants, Whatsoever he saith unto you, do it." John 2:5

I believe in the Lord Jesus as my Savior. His mission while upon this earth was to minister to others and bring them to a knowledge of the Creator who loves us enough to sacrifice Jesus for the forgiveness of our sins. The first miracle that occurred in Jesus ministry was based upon the faith of his mother in what Jesus was called to do. Even though it was not yet His time, He did indeed do something about a need that was evident at a wedding He and the disciples were attending.
Now weddings in the time of Jesus were known to be very elaborate, to go on for multiple days, and involve a lot of imbibing of the hosts wine. It was often the practice to use the "good wine" first and to soon replace it with the old line when the partiers wouldn't notice the decline in the quality of the fare.

"I believe in you son." Mary said.

"Before this day is over,
Everything will change.
Listen to Him, and do what He says, guys."
In the face of this moment Jesus went to work.
Every cistern was filled to the brim.
Verily I say unto you it was merely water that went into those cisterns.
Even the servants were leery and yet did what they were told.

I believe in times such as this, when the world seems to be crashing in. The wine is running out, the food is spoiling, the insurance premiums are depleting your meager funds to a pile of bills, the Word found here is the buoy that the Lord casts out to those who believe in the Lord. Believers who find the storms of life just pummeling them to complete exhaustion, are looking for an answer, and assurance. If we will but do what He says through His Word, through those He places in our lives to minster to us, and even the faith a pet has in her humans to meet her needs is found in this life today.

Are you in the midst of a particularly turbulent time in your life beloved? Are your needs exceeding the means to meet them? Are you drifting in your faith, wondering if you really do believe? It's okay beloved. Life is not guaranteed to be a rose garden, when we become believers. In fact it is quite possible you will find yourself embroiled in the fight of your life as a believer. The devil will pay more attention to you, because if he can get your mind off the Christ, then you will be adrift without your buoy, life preserver if you will, to bolster your faith in times of trouble.

"His mother saith unto the servants, Whatsoever he saith unto you, do it." This is your buoy today beloved, and it is as fresh in the 21st century as it was when it was first uttered by the mother of Jesus, our Savior and Lord. I Believe! Will you?
