My scattered scribblings

What have you come across?

My pen and keyboard are usually busy with stories and books.
Anything that makes it into this journal is something powerful or important enough to have me write it down.

Oh well Robyn, I have just spent the last twenty minutes writing a lengthy answer about what I think about news and have lost the lot.

Grrr. You do have a point and The kind of news that I like to watch or hear about is the up and coming swimmer Adam Peady an unknown who has just won two Gold medals this week. All his years of prep has paid off.

As for newsi have my other half filter what I want to hear as he knows what I want to here. for instance:3. Husband sues wife after seeing her with no makeup for the first time. It tickled me. I purposely walked about with no makeup and my old slacks and top yesterday I also left my hair untouched. Then asked him would he divorce me if he saw me every day like that. His answer was: You were my queen the day I met you and you will be my queen till the day I divorse you. (We both had a good laugh)

News today to me is just a good gossip shop. The news I want to hear is that people are looking out to each other and that the world is getting to be a better place to live.

2 was amusing
3-shouldn't even be news.
As for 4, there is no such thing as personal space for Chinese people-at least not when I was in Hong Kong.

News: 5 sounds like "news" but it didn't feel like it when I read the article. 6 is not newsworthy. It's showing the people they can get attention from what they're doing, which is wrong.
7- ugh, whatever.
Joker looks scary in the last one. I like Batman, but maybe just the cartoon.

Entertainment -- 3 (what a dick

), 4 because it's just stupid, 2 mostly because the others aren't entertaining at all. And all the others are sort of a big fat 'who cares' in my book. So ummm... just to complete the list (and they're all equally yawn-worthy): 1, 5 (IQ doesn't matter as much as what you do with it-- who cares?), 7, 8, and 6 is last because it's not entertaining. It's not news, but it isn't amusing or fun or stupid. It's just... blah.

I'm just reading that American customs one.

I call bullshit. In NZ we usually sit in the back of a cab. Riding shotgun is not even close to the 'polite thing to do' and very few people do it. But some people do, and actually, I think the cabbies don't like it much, but they accept it.

And altering the meal is dependent on how snobby the chef/waiter is. I know that I'd be offended if I cooked a meal and someone poured ketchup over it, or even salt and pepper, without tasting it first. Taste it, then if it requires seasoning, season it. Don't season it out of habit. See what the chef has created first, it might not need any additional seasoning.

Newsworthyness - 6, 5. None of the others are newsworthy at all, and I think those two are only because one highlights a serious social problem that needs addressing, and the other is... Okay, so maybe just 6. Damn, these are stupid headlines!
