Q: What will I find here?
A: My unfiltered, unedited thoughts, feelings, and ideas. References to depression, marital issues, anger, money, and maybe even my sex life. I try to be completely open and honest with myself in this blog in order to allow me to let go of the negativity that likes to wrap itself around my brain and squeeze it tightly.

Q: Does that mean I might be offended?
A: Yes. It's quite possible that you might be offended by my words though I truly do not mean to offend anyone.

Q: Can I comment on your entries?
A: Yes. I always welcome interaction from other human beings.

Q: I've read your blog and I don't think it should be rated XGC. Why did you rate it that way?
A: I rated it that way just in case. I don't know for sure what would be considered XGC or not, but I would prefer to rate it higher and have fewer people reading than rate it lower and have it be deemed inappropriate for that rating.

Q: I don't see you writing anything new. Do you only use W.com as a blog?
A: Yes and no. It is definitely my blog, but I also use it as a depository for my writing. I've posted a lot of old things and written a couple of new things, but I haven't actually been focusing on my writing.

I do write more when I have my earbuds in and music playing. I just really have trouble with trying to figure out where to begin. Getting started is always so difficult for me. I always want to start at the very beginning, but I never know where that really is so I’m hesitant. Does that make sense?

Sometimes that happens to me too. It might mean you're just distracted. I have an office where I can write at my desk in peace, but usually I end up writing in the living room. I just change the tv from a show to Pandora or sometimes I just turn it off so that I can better concentrate on what I am trying to get written. If I'm at school and have a cancelled class, I find somewhere to sit, plug in my headphones, turn on Pandora, and that helps me write. That sort of creates my writing space wherever I am. Maybe that's what you need, a literal or figurative writing space to help you focus.

It's more like "sit with the laptop on my lap for an hour while I watch tv" than writing anymore. That's the worst part. I'm not dedicated to it anymore. Years ago, writing was my sanctuary in a bad relationship. Now that I'm in a better place in my life, writing is harder for me.

If you can only write for ten minutes, then write for those ten minutes every day. You'll get a little further along every time you do it.

Jot down your ideas and any "visions" of a scene. Don't worry at this poin where it belongs in the story. That will work out in the end.

Also "interview" your characters like a newspaper reporter or magazine journalist might rather that trudging through a list of fill in the blank questions like name, where were you born, what do you like to do, etc.

By interviewing your characters and having them "answer" you, you begin to get an idea of their voice and speech patterns. You also have the advantage of being creative and getting the creative juices flowing.

It's worked for me. At the very least you know more about your character and you've done some creative writing. Just a thought...

. It's only within the last few years that I feel like my work hasn't been meaningful. I think that happens a lot when you're in the medical field. "Burn out" is a dangerous thing for someone who does what I do and, honestly, I wish I could do something else. I'd feel guilty if I changed jobs for a multitude of reasons so I stick where I am. It's hard on my mind.

Sorry to hear that you're having a rough week! I can see why you're feeling so frustrated and angry, given the recent changes in your work schedule. It's hard when you're spending so much time working and it's not something you find meaningful or enjoyable. I hope your week gets better!

To be honest, I know I'm a very selfish person so I'm trying not to be selfish. My first nature is "if it's not gonna help me get mine, then go to hell." In the interest of being a good person, I usually try not to do that.

It's OK to be "selfish," to meet your own needs. Just write "Stop - It's Sunday" on your hand and whenever she wants to cross the line you've drawn, just hold up you hand ... and smile

I can add that to the mountain of books that I've already got to finish. So many books, too lazy to read them all!
