Sometimes, I'm at a complete loss as to what to write. I mean one huge brain fart with no IQ. I don't get it. Like right now. When I do have something to say, you can't shut me up. Just a friendly warning.

Ok, when you see vet for steroid injections, ask how much cranberry supplement to add to her food. Crush it up, voila. Cheaper by far.

The shot my Callie got was called Medrol I think. It lasted for 4 weeks. They prefer oral pills for a steadier dose but pilling cats eh... and the injection was under $30 here.

Thank you honey. But, cat number 3 with bad kidneys, jeez. I can't afford a $37 bag of food. My husband would have a fit. I need to get her those steroid injections, even if it makes her feel better for a few weeks at a time.

MAN. One thing ive done but its expensive, is go from grocery store dry food to BLUE dry food. They have a formula for urinary health!!! It's packed full of antioxidants like cranberry, it has no by products, it's made from real meat which I know you know is rare. Has a buncha good stuff in it. I hate to say it's $37.00 for a 15 lb bag, but you don't have but two cats... last you longer than the five days it does me

I had to resort to friskies canned food once a day only, cause it's not cheap to raise so many, but I REFUSE to giveup their Blue. I get sensitive formula and it helps my two older cats and everyone not to upchuck as much.

This is all not to say it's your fault. SOme cats just have the weak kidneys

But, speaking from a one kidney person herself umm myself, cranberry is helpful, more water consumption helps to flush toxins and proteins. Maybe something I say can help. Soldier on my dear, you can do it!

It does suck!! Thank you for all of that! I had 4 cats total. Just lost 2 in last year and this one is going now. There are more than 2 litter boxes. Put if this continues, I'll only have one furball left! My heart can't take it! It doesn't help that they were close in age either.

Great advice there.

Im so sorry! I so know... yet I've never had a cat in renal failure. I encouragemy catsto drink water by making it a treat. FRESH FRESH WAAAAATER I'll sing out each day as I rinse and refill their bowls. I have some cats who just dont like water much, until I make it fresh and like a treat.

You likely know this already, but some tips:

--Feed canned tuna no more than a few times a year.
--Do NOT feed cats more than a couple bites of processed meats like salami, deli meats, etc. The nitrites and nitrates hurt their kidneys.
--Make sure the litter boxes are plentiful: 1 box per cat, plus an extra 1. In case a cat holds it in so as not to be ambushed in the box, or you know cats some just like their privacy. Actually it occurrs tome you may only have one cat, not multiple, at a time like me.
--Keep it scooped daily to encourage her to use it.

SO sorry. I've kept my cats on steroids (shots!) knowing I had to let them go soon. JUST SUCKS. Worth it. WHat is life without feline love???

"Like" isn't an option. I know it's heartbreaking (the little beasties sink their claws into your heart) but it is the natural cycle of birth, life, death. Be the person she thinks you are. Love her but don't let her suffer. When it's time, let her go with dignity. You'll know you did all you could ... even at the end.
