A poet has to manifest herself in a safe environment. This is such a place for my early baby steps. The wonders of the world and my inner thoughts mingle. They become one. It’s a journey of the soul, a spark of the mind, and a bit of spit. For more "Poet @ Work 2" [18+], "In honest simple verse" [E]
On the other hand: it might be a brooding place for challenges and poetry contests, some of which required ONE STAR RATING. (In case somebody wonders about the gracing this blog) A large group of writers participated in this challenge that required to rate as low as possible. So, it doesn't mean this blog is a bad blog or that they reviewed mean, it was required and this is the consequence. Alas!
Kåre Enga in MontanaI stopped last year for 5 months but started again when my dog died. There is always a reason, isn't there? Now it's very hard to quit.
This reminds me ... we get milk delivered and it's placed in a cooling box on our porch. When we pulled out the milk the other day there was a fly on the side of the glass jar. It was very cold and I knocked it to the ground. I probably should have stepped on it, but it was outside, so I left it alone. Ha!
I want the Divided States to become once again, the United States. Trump has screwed so much up. If Biden doesn't get it, I don't know what's going to happen to us. If Trump doesn't get it, I'm a little nervous about what's going to happen in the aftermath. Our governor was almost kidnapped and killed in our state a few weeks ago. She's not a bad governor at all! She's cautious and cares about us. Trump is such a liar. Ugh. I've already voted, so now I just wait. And cross my fingers.
The elements of the tanka are:
1. syllabic, 31 or fewer syllables, most commonly 5-7-5-7-7, in variation the lines are best kept with odd-numbered syllables.
2. normally but not always a 5 line poem, the 5 line pattern however does seem to prevail.
3. defined by content and style more than the syllabic prescription. But there is still a pattern of short and long lines rather than a metered equal length.
4. written as a personal or emotional expression of themes such as natural beauty, love, the impermanence of life, the activities of the common people
5. composed with the priority of "to be touched by things" "mono no aware" and use of concrete images.
