A week of writing is going on right now. An author who helps other authors (she calls herself a story midwife) named Traci Skuce is running a Clarity Challenge that began today and is fun. She gives prompts in the early morning and has a Q & A later at 11:00 am PST. On another front, ProWritingAid is running a Fantasy Writing Week with videos and all kinds of things. Both require sign-ups to get the links but they are both fun. Oh, and with the ProWritingAid, there is a a 40% coupon for signing up. Finally, Marion Roach Smith, a respected memoir writer and coach is starting a book club for her latest edition of her Memoir Project book. It starts tomorrow. Look her up on Instagram and sign up for the club. The book is very useful.

I haven't been very faithful. You probably have guessed. My blog misses me. (I think, or at least assume). I've been working through some online writing courses. It has made me see I have a long way to go to be a great writer. I suppose some authors are naturally uber-talented. Me, not so much. I realize I will have to work hard to have a chance. The one thing I have going for me is that I'm super competitive...and someone just challenged me to write my stories. In fact, it seems from her feedback, that I don't have the traits to be a writer. Big mistake. OR. she's super-smart. Nothing is going to make me work harder than that kind of challenge. Since that afternoon, I've written everyday for my first book, a biography of my mother. Actually, another author, explained that if you're not writing about a famous person, you're probably better off writing a memoir. I guess that makes my work a memoir/biography.(I'm still not willing to get rid of the biography category). This book is so personal, I'm having trouble approaching parts of it without pain. But I guess that's what a book like this should do at points. The story is inspirational and hopefully glorifies God and gives people hope. I did start to write it here but I received a rather negative review (1 star) because I started out with my grandfather because that is where my mom's Christian walk began. At least that is what I tell myself. I still have the story in my portfolio but only I can see it and I work on it in Microsoft Word and Scrivener. If you're interested in reading it, let me know, and I'll open it for you so you can see my progress. (It's not nearly done). Anyway, thanks for reading this and I wish you well on your writing journey. Come back soon.

I just heard Elton John's song title in my head as I sat down to write: Love Lies Bleeding, and it made me think how many other titles of songs, movies, television, have wonderful titles. I can think of Star Trek (the original series) having several. City on the Edge of Forever, A Piece of the Action, Amok Time, and Star Wars: Revenge of the Sith, Empire Strikes Back. (Can you tell I love Science fiction?) Great Expectations, War and Peace and The Brothers Karamazov, A Tale of Two Cities, The Canterbury Tales. Crime and Punishment. What are your favorites?
