At home in Thailand we do something similar. At home, we make rice and top it with whatever we didn't finish from the last meal.

I finally decided to use June 2022's entries for my responses to other bloggers' entries. I tend to do this daily anyways and post in my weekly 'catch-all' blog (added to every day} "Porthole"

s Probably the same in the USA. One thing though... new dialects are forming in the US cities (Chicago for one) and sociolects are evident along age, religious, ethnic and class lines. American Evangelical Christians are noteworthy because some of them only speak to each other and they are a large group. Of course, that's true of any group that isolates itself or that uses language as identity. Gen Z has its own slang just like every generation before it; although, covid and the impersonal internet may have exacerbated the linguistic divide.

I've never considered the idea of using love to survive, but it is something I relate to very much.

To answer your question: Most Australians, especially in the big cities, are losing their dialect as US and UK pop culture takes over the zeitgeist. It's more common in the rural areas. They understand dominant/standard versions of English, but speak between themselves in their local version of the Australian dialect. I have a habit of falling into the Australian dialect when speaking, but not quite as often when writing. I think that's because old habits die hard, and my reading influences my writing.

Apondia Alack... we are all bonkers. If Bigfoot or Nessy wished to know us I suspect they would have said or done something by now. Do they have a Cloak of Invisibility? If so... may they continue to use it. Humans tend to abuse anything they can monetize. People and cultures have been destroyed over greed for gold. Better to live a simple life where no one looks too closely.

I know I need serious conversations more than most. Hopefully someday we'll meet and have one face-to-face.

I haven't had a serious conversation with any one face to face in a long time. I try to write sincerely except maybe when I'm writing for Andre" then I do write on subjects I might otherwise not tackle at all. The latest Bigfoot article was perked because I was being bombed with Bigfoot on Facebook. Then History. com seemed to be taking the stories and pictures seriously.

I once did some research about the Lock Ness monster because so many people swear, they have seen it. I know we are in a special time zone of odd things people see and hear. As a journalist I like to find proof it would be something to assure the public that we are not all bonkers.

Words Whirling 'Round Some people don't like small talk. It doesn't pay the bills. But... it greases social interactions. Some use alcohol to connect but I don't.

I don't listen well. Yes, much of what people say is boring. Apondia talks about haying. Boring? Not to me! I love to read about daily life. We have so much in common. So much is different. Standing in a rice field I think of the wheat, bean and corn fields of Kansas. I wish Judith could've been there. But Scarlett was. We had met face-to-face in Minnesota, England and now Thailand. Our connection began with blogging here at WDC. Linda's life was boring to her. But never to me.

I was shy and isolated as a child. Disconnection is a personal issue. I try desperately to connect.

Khola Mousethyme I've felt marginalized all my life. I keep track of how Americans are fearful of people they have marginalized because they are somehow different. Hatred of Muslims and non-Christians, LGBTQ, People-of-Color, Non-English speakers... need I go on... is on the ballot in every small town in the USA in November 2024. I travel a lot and my vision is global; but, the real decisions are made around kitchen tables and how we treat each other. If there are no marginalized people at that table then their voices are stilled; and, the voiceless tend to be exterminated.

I'm a very serious person but 'silly' works better at connecting with most folks.

Thanks for the shout out. Privacy is a complex subject. Some information can be dangerous to share, but mostly it's just boring stuff. We all like to talk, not many want to listen. Oftentimes there isn't enough of interest to support a conversation. Should I ramble on with my trivial details just to fill the quiet space? Should I spend my time listening to yours? Is friendship merely an exchange of boredom? How much can I share without revealing too much? Will you be impressed or repulsed? Perhaps it's better to remain quiet.

I didn't understand some of your entry; probably because i'm not up on politics or world events...

I thank you for addressing me personally. I tend to smile a lot in public and other situations. It used to work for me in interviews to get a job. I feel isolated a lot too, even in a crowd sometimes.

I like the way you call it your silly power. Not many people have the gift of humor.

This is a project I will have to try to keep my eye on.

Sunflowers, irises and rosemary

Flowers have always had meaning to me. My first gardens had (French) marigolds and portulaca. Both very easy to grow on the hard clay we called a back yard.

I've written many poems and short stories with a flower as a talisman. Even today I picked up a plumeria to smell it. Last night I plucked a jasmine. If I get lucky there'll be gardenias in bloom when I look tonight; if not, they will bloom soon.

The national tree/flower "golden showers" (a cassia) is in regal bloom. I posted a picture on fookbase.

I shared my garden growing up. I shared it when I had a house. Bury me in a garden. An elm tree at my head.

"O Lord! Make me a brilliant lamp, a shining star and a blessed tree, adorned with fruit, its branches overshadowing all these regions." — ‘Abdu’l-Bahá, Bahá’í Prayers, p. 186-187

To sindbad I need to be reminded of this "This story is all about life. It teaches us that We must GIVE before We can RECEIVE Abundantly." when I write a poem for/about someone. My meagre words may have meanings even I don't recognise.

Recently, Rosemary thanked me for a poem I wrote for her years ago. And then within 24 hours I received a review for it here (after years of few views and no reviews).

To Amethyst Angel🌸📝🪽: I remember Mrs. Blumen's irises. I believe she gifted me one when I was a pre-teen. Ours were mostly blue, purple or yellow. My fav was one that smelled like root beer.

To KingsSideCastle: Sunflowers are in bloom at the local wat in Udon Thani. I posted a picture on bookface and added this:

"Sunflower (tan tawan), which means resistant to the sun, indicating strength and moving in the right direction. A bouquet of sunflowers is a message of goodwill and well-wishing to the receiver.".

The sunflower plays a role in the Thai BL "Last Twilight" (a decent series with good acting imho).
