Summer's storm Summer stands there frozen against the scudding clouds the storm crashing through her as tall waves pound the shore she resists temptation to go inside and thaw this her power—to withstand it all—a beacon of hope to the stranded weary of winter's pall; she stands fast before the fury like a lighthouse dug down to life's bedrock, sand sifting over toes, a lone seagull circles her thoughts swirling to gusts.
