Thats great that you're taking writing workshops...see, since I'm short on cash, I'm just signing up for a class at college. Also, I already signed up for 1st year Russian...see where that goes...so happy that you are writing. And extending deadlines are fine...as long as you keep on writing...
I know what you mean with that and I can sympathize. I got a review and rate like that recently, in which the reviewer gave me a, "Interesting" as their review, and a 3.5 rating on one of my folders. Baffles me too.
Yes, I don't even know why these people bother. It's just kind of rude to give that rating, and then just say great job. I wouldn't mind getting that rating, if in the review, I found out why I had received it. Well, off to write. Upgrade will end soon...which is sad..
Sometimes when I'm reviewing an item, I find that if I move my mouse wrong I can change my rating unintentionally. I'm sure I've sent ratings without reviews at all (and I have a policy of always reviewing) and have sent some wierd ratings (I hope not).
Having said that, I too have been puzzled. Odd comments either by folks who don't read well, don't write poetry or think that the technical aspect is all there is (Have I been guilty too? Perhaps. Nothing worse than an unreadable unedited item, but I try to play fair.).
One short coming of the rating system is that 3.5 compared to 3.0 isn't the same as 3.5 compared to a 4.0. Each person has their own system. Still numbers should tell. By the time it has been reviewed by 20 people, the target audience is defined.
Best of luck. I'm intrigued by your progress in writing a novel. Hope it succeds. Kåre.
I never follow any guidlines until I need them. Maybe is it my Aries nature coming to the front. For most of my writing I dont use an outline, but sometimes I do. I mean everything I have posted on the site is really a rough draft with no rewrites. When I do rewrite I dont follow the ussually role of the rewrite being tighter and shorter. My rough drafts ussually are just to get the feeling down of what I want to say and when I rewrite I flesh it out and add to it.
I dont know if that answers a question or if I just rambled again. Either way, glad you worked things out with you better half.
I'm so happy that you decided to do that with you're wife.Heh, you hate long descriptive passages and I love reading them. Although, for the love of me, I cannot write in a romantic style...so I'm hoping to mix both romantacism and modernism together...see if that works. Anyways, happy for you, and great job so far on you're novel.
