Write poetry from prompts just for the fun of it; formal or free verse, you pick.

16. "Imagine yourself a bird flying high in the sky viewing the world beneath." Suggested by essence of thought

My bird gets clipped once a year
A blue and gold macaw
He never ceases to amaze
In the spring when he is ready
To spread his wings again.

It may be no accident the way
I bring him out to greet the sun
A little to soon.

The torque of his muscled wings
Is more than I can hold
His momentary freedom is nothing
I can deny... you let it go.

My fear is paralyzing or
Could it be envy
Such beauty in
His banded pride.
He is elemenatal for a moment
Beyond control and

Once a year he comes home
exalted in his being
a bird
not in a cage.
