Spring 2006 SLAM! - Congrats to the winners - see you all next time! |
"Invalid Item" Exams were near, I was seated home studying. Flash news ... Live news; 'What's there?!' I wondered. 'Occupation Army is leaving the lands of south At last it's back to its mother country'; the reporter cheerfully announced the tidings. I was stunned after what was pronounced and unbelieving, my books flew in the air. My family and I starred at each other then blew out joyfully, 'could it be true?' My village that I've forever been hearing about from father and grandmother, from uncle and aunt and at all times longing to see since still a young child is now fully free from any foreign feet. My fellow citizens showed up on the screen celebrating the unique occasion; 'it's true!' The telephone rang; my friends online: 'Congratulations, your land is released.' With feelings agitated; my tears flew freely. Study? 'Later, I can't now, I've just wanted to go; my village was waiting for me and for all. We went ahead; my family and siblings. Celebrations were spreading all along our way. Streets sounded proud while people were crowded, I've never seen such a true touching cheer. Land is precious and that’s an event to recall; the twenty fifth of May is now a national day. 'You've swore, do you remember?' my cousins evinced. 'sure!' I sniffed the fresh air and kneeled down to kiss the soil then raised my head 'Thanks God', I praised, 'My roots were back!' |
