We partied just the night before,
Five of us friends, not a care in the world.
Who would have thought our lives would change?
That tomorrow life wouldn't be the same.

We all went to school on Uncle Sam's ticket;
The Army, Navy and the National Guard.
And with Frank an Alan we’d joke,
You National Guardsmen will be the first to go.

When night became day, the news was frightening,
Every headline across the nation, the same.
Before we knew it, Frank an Alan were off,
Across the ocean, a thousand miles from home.

Off to the gulf,
Off to Desert Storm.

Then one night in the barracks, its soldiers all tucked in,
Saddam’s missiles found their target.
We watched intently on that February day,
We crossed our fingers and we prayed.

To our dear Frank an Alan,
Full of life, without a care in the world.
Who lost their lives for our country's oil.
We miss you so.
