While reading the first half of your item I thought, "This sounds so much like a parable or fable? How could they think it was her?"

The last paragraph somehow made me think that it did sound like the writer was the character. I think it was because it broke the fable like quality. I've written a review that gives more specific suggestions as to how to simplify the end to keep the tone of the beginning .

The story is so short and there is no appropriate place to give the character a name, so there's not much you can do to convince all readers that the character is not you. In another story you can say something like, "My name is Mahitabel Jackson and this is my story" and maybe when they look at your byline they will get the idea.

PS: I am a "reformed" fan fiction writer, myself, and I know about Mary Sues. I did write myself into a couple of my stories but I like to think that the "me" in the stories were more a reporter of events than a heroine who sucks the life out of all the other characters. I blush to think I might have been a Mary Sue. ; )
