My Latent Muse
Some mystic beast lies dormant,
Within my ageless soul,
It walks with me becalmed and still
Exerting no control.
What stirs it’s flame without the norm
Of love, of pain and fear,
And brings it forth to lift the quill
And write, I’ve no idea.

I cant begin to tell you now
Of places I have been;
Amongst the mundane wheels of life
The mystic beast will glean,
Some reverent inspiration,
Some feint within its glen;
Will make it rise as if sunrise
And dare me lift my pen.

Oh mystic beast within my heart,
Allow my mastery,
Permit my thoughts to temper you,
Delight occasionally.
I ask not for your servile grace
Or steal your jeu d’esprit;
I ask you to release my muse...
And restore life to me…
