I like sequels when they're on purpose--in other words, I like series. I don't like sequels so much when they're like, Legally Blonde and then, Red, White, and Blonde--that's what you call cashing in on a profitable idea.

But when it's a writer whose characters won't let them go, sometimes the sequel is even better than the original. Frequently a sequel will be better, in fact--it's not great writing, but The DaVinci Code was better than Angels & Demons and was its sequel.

Um, trying to think of another example here...

Yeah, I guess what I said before. I like series. Sequels can be good, or can be bad.
