Something about being different empowers me. It let me take back what dreams I have about who I can be and then reach higher. Of course, then we ask the question, different from what? Different in attitude from where I stood yesterday. Different from the person I will be tomorrow. The wonderful thing about life is that I can continually reinvent myself, I can find new definitions for me.
Each day, I learn new things about the way my head works, and each day, I work to change the things I dislike. Are characters any different? Most characters seek for change, in definition if in nothing else.
Huh. I need to think about this some more, but I still have two minutes left to write. So, when I think about characters, they can't remain dolls that can be positioned in any way that I want them. I need them to surprise me, so that I continue to be engaged with my story. What does that mean? Well, probably that I'm trying to have them focus on the same kinds of change that I see in my own life. I'll have to work on that.
