Sprints are great for getting focused on writing for a specific period of time and getting as much as you can down. It is one way for people who fight to keep their inner editor gagged during NaNo. As for write or die, do yourself a favour and don't set it up so that it will erase what you have written if you pause/stop writing for too long, that can be an exercise in frustration if you go that route!
