October Novel Prep Challenge

I was going through old blog entries and came across this entry from last year: Novel Ideas 2013  .

So, what is the legality of using snippets of songs in a novel? The novel I was working on last year, she was a huge music fan and uses music to get through rough times. For this year I'm going off of that character and music is very important to her.
