Free to Write

With a shy smile, Amber batted her eyes at John across the crowded and noisy dance floor. She was thrilled when he raised his hand in greeting, at least until she realized that he was waving to Jennifer, who was standing three feet away from her. Amber's heart sank as Jennifer rushed across the dance floor, her blonde, shoulder length hair fluttering in the breeze, to drunkenly embrace John, almost smothering him with her voluptuous body. Amber watched the clumsy embrace as if it were a train wreck which she couldn't divert her attention from. She watched jealously as John slipped his arm around the very intoxicated Jennifer, as he led her off of the dance floor, and into a dark and secluded corner, where her mind could only imagine what was about to happen. As her eyes filled with tears, she almost didn't notice Sam as he approached her and asked her to dance.
