Free to Write

The crack in the mirror was a cruel reminder to Jessica. Things had started out fine, with her and her boyfriend watching a movie down in the living room. They had both giggled at the silly scenes in 'Scary Movie 13'. They had screamed at the scary scenes. And, they had eventually ended up in each other's arms. After the movie ended, Jessica casually suggested that they retire to her bedroom.

Things there had started out well enough, until Jessica's boyfriend had yelled 'BOO'. This had frightened Jessica, more from surprise than anything. The resulting pillow fight had been innocent enough, but, then, things had escalated. That one pillow that had slipped out of Jessica's hand had flown across the room and crashed into the mirror. The resulting crack, on the 100 year old mirror that Jessica had inherited from her great grandmother, completely ruined the evening, as well as the relationship.
