This is great feedback. After reading your response, I realize I am trying to create a "live character" out of my setting rather than using the setting to create an emotional shift in my characters.

I chose/created this project for myself because I wanted to learn and practice techniques specifically related to the use of settings in a story. And the story I am working on is definitely dependent on the setting's perceived security and ultimate dangers.

Thank you again for the response. I have some studying to do and a direction in which to look.
