I think I'd side with being the smartest. I think that I'm more familiar with that one than the other. There are times in my life when I have probably been the smartest in the room, and I've never felt that I was a very funny person. It's kind of a thrill when I actually am able to make others laugh. Still, I'm pretty pragmatic, and value the most intelligent in our society. I've also seen both in society and in the classroom how those who must make others laugh often are damaged in some way. That's sad and has caused many tragedies.
In my career, I ended up specializing with gifted students and helping them with the challenges that come along with the advantages. So I think while humor is awesome, comedies are often the shows and movies we search for in our house, and it has it's own value, I'll go with 'smartest'.
