I used to use word, but now I'm a scrivener girl. I think it's incredibly easy and handy. I love that I don't have to open different documents for different chapters like I used to do in word. It's all laid out for you on the sidebar of scrivener and you can drag and drop to move chapters around. It's extremely easy to use and it's not cluttered. You just write. I use an external hard drive to save my work - I hate paying for any cloud or storage that isn't tangible. BUT, you have to find what is right for you. There are lot of different programs out there, and many have a free trial period for you to utilize. Good luck!
