Re: Re: Discussion: Dark Fantasy
I know the difference between regular fantasy and dark fantasy. Dark fantasy isn't quite so heroic. It also deals with darker themes and has elements of horror.

A Song of Fire and Ice is dark and at times, grim-dark. and yes, Joe Abercrombie (currently one of my favourite fantasy authors) is, indeed, Lord Grimdark.

I haven't yet tried to write any dark or grim-dark fantasy, but I do think the best fantasy stories have a dark element, whether it is a dark undercurrent or the potential for something horrific to happen as a result of the magic.
