Oh but did you read here somewhere that One Loney said that you can start the nano before then. The rule is that you write 50k during the month, so wherever you are in your book the nano word counting starts 1st of November.
So you can start as soon as you are ready :) I started mine yesterday, although Im not actually doing the nano.
