I don't think it could be the Rocky Mountains just because Cuthbert and Saratoga Falls are multi day drives away from Olympia, which is in Colorado iirc. And the time Will and Syndey drove from SF to LA took several days, with a stop through Vegas, so I don't think California fits either.
