Agreed. I knew books as my friends. I remember borrowing them from the public library and showing them all the respect. Not laying them open which would hurt the binding, not eating and reading. It helped us obtain a vast vocabulary useful in our everyday life. Speaking with the confidence that you use clear and concise words is what you want to spill over into your writing.
