Hallo again,

The winner of the Star Trek Trivia competition was Airycat who got nearly all of the answers correct, and scooped up the prize pool of 2000 GP's!

10 Trivia Questions About the Cast:

1. What role did Marina Sirtis originally audition for?

(Security Chief Macha Hernandez) - The creators were originally thinking of a character modelled from the tough female marine character in the film, "Aliens" who was hispanic or latino background.

2. What role did Denise Crosby originally audition for?

(Counselor Troi)- But Marina and Denise did such knock-out auditions they swopped the actresses around for the characters and changed the Security Chief's name to Tasha Yar to go with Denise's blonde hair and blue eyes.

3. What was the famous mini-series called that LeVar Burton starred in before Trek?

(Roots)- He was in this film with Danny Glover. When I first saw it, it took a few minutes to recognise him without his visor!

4. Which Jim Henson movie did Gates McFadden work on as a choreographer and director of puppet movement?

(Labyrinth)- with Jennifer Connelly and David Bowie

5. Who has Jonathan Frakes appraised for making him his favourite and has credited for giving him some extra coaching on the side?

(Patrick Stewart)- you can see him riding the worm next to Kyle Maclachlan!

7. Which actor was in the Woody Allen movie "Stardust Memories"?

(Brent Spiner)-Ole yellow eyes

8. Which actor’s voice was used in the movie, "The Secret of Nimh"?

(Wil Wheaton)-From a few non-Wesley fans I thought some people would be able to guess - who else's whiny voice could play a rodent so well? (This is a matter of opinion, I am a HUGE Wesley fan)

9. Which actor had a co-starring role on the TV show CHiPS before coming on board the Enterprise-D?

(Michael Dorn)- I can't remember him in it though, I was too young.

10. Which actress, through her friend LeVar Burton, let the producers know that she would like to join the cast after Denise Crosby’s exit?

(Whoopi Goldberg)-She is a huge Star Trek: The Original Series fan from growing up and watching Nichelle Nichols strut her stuff in her mini. When Whoopi rang up and asked for a role on Next Gen, the producers and writers created Guinan just for her.

(2349 AD)- this was just to see who the die hard fans are out there.

2. What are the first names of his parents?

(Jack and Beverly)- how could anyone not know this? Airycat did, and she said 'this is easy' before it.

3. Who was the person responsible for introducing the two?

(Walker Keel)- little known fact, that he, Jean-Luc and Jack were their own little rat-pack.

4. What was Dr Crusher’s maiden name?

(Howard)- Aye the Howard 'womin' were fiesty, stubborn, passionate things! (According a centuries old ghost, and Ned Quint)

5. What was the first name of Geordi La Forge’s mother?

(Silva)-played by Madge Sinclair - who in 'ST: The Voyage Home' made the first ever appearance of a female Captain in the Star Trek universe.

6. When Geordi La Forge served on board the U.S.S. Victory, who was his Captain?

(Captain Zimbata)- He gave Geordie an excellent reference.

7. What were the names of Jean-Luc Picard’s parents?

(Maurice Picard and Yvette Gessard Picard)- not widely known, another test for the biggest Trekkie on the forum.

8. What is the name of the area and country of where the Picard family farm/vineyard is situated?

(Labarre, France)- was mentioned in several episodes, then shown in the 4th season ep 'Family'.

9. How old was Wil Riker when his mother died?

(Two years old)- He gave a new definition to the term, the Terrible Two's...

10. What was the year that William Riker graduated from Starfleet Academy?

(2357 AD)- Airycat was out by only two years!

11. What rank was Will Riker when he met Deanna Troi?

(Lieutenant)- Poor ole Thomas never got past this rank.

12. What was the name Deanna Troi gave to her child in the episode "The Child?" which was also her father’s name?

(Ian Andrew Troi)- Airycat was half right.

13. Who was Deanna Troi genetically bonded to when they were both children?

(Wyatt Miller) - No, he wasn't a sheriff or a gunslinger. Had an obsession with blondes...

14. What was the name of the farm world where Worf was raised by his adoptive parents?

(Gault)- But his parents are on Earth now in their retiring years.

15. What are the names of Worf’s adoptive parents?

(Sergey and Helena Rozhenko)- Well done Airycat for correct spelling and everything!

16. What happened to Worf in 2353 during a game of soccer?

(He accidentally killed a human boy when their heads collided)

17. To Worf, what did this accident teach him?

(To practice extreme restraint whenever dealing with humans) - We're just too damn breakable!

18. How many androids had Dr. Noonien Soong created before Data?

(Four) - Two unnamed, B4 who popped up in Star Trek: Nemesis, Lore, than Data makes five.

19. What was the name of the Colony where Data was created?

(Omicron Theta)- which was made a meal of by the Crystaline Entity.

20. What was the name Data gave his ‘daughter’ and what does the name mean?

(Lal, in Hindi means ‘beloved’)

- another favourite line from the episode "The Offspring", was when Guinan was teaching Lal how human's show affection from observing a couple with the corner booth, the young android barks out, "He's biting her face!!" (kissing)
