Where upon the ocean deep
I sailed the sea so blue,
my paint brand new
the color grey
into cream,
sturdy as we go
from north to south,
with winds that blow a gale.
Fading away behind the mist
a gentle sweeping breeze,
twenty knots
to the hour
steady where to go,
the new land in sight
far from the lost horizon,
a jagged mountain hidden deep.
Oh no, there's a disaster near
hidden down far below,
beware the stern
twisting,
falling down
cracked the seam,
waves crashing up high
buried broken on the rocks.
Where to now crying my pain
ashamed below the decks,
old the barnacles
torn apart,
the tiny pieces
for fish to feed away,
a memory lost in the gloom
fast fading my epitaph, unknown.
