This choice: She Headed East To The Giantess Lands  •  Go Back...
Chapter #3

Trouble in the East

    by: Azazel-8
It took the two girls some significant effort to track down a lead on the traitorous rouge, but they were eventually able to determine that she had fled to the east, apparently intending to sell the mirror before picking up some more work. Holly had wanted to just let things be, arguing that nothing good could come of following their former companion, but Jet was set on seeking justice for Clara’s actions and stubbornly put her foot down until her friend eventually capitulated.

Neither was sure how far the other girl had intended to go. The Giantess Kingdom lay to the east but there were any number of smaller settlements along the way that could have been her destination. If her goal was the kingdom itself then things would likely become more difficult, since entry into those lands was tightly controlled for the safety of all involved. Still, Jet was determined to see this through, and told herself that she wouldn’t allow anything to get in her way.

Days had passed, and the two had now been on the road for a full week since the incident with the mirror. In that time they had yet to see any sign of Clara, though in some of the towns they had passed through along the way they had been told of a person matching her description heading further east. The more they travelled the more clear that their final destination was becoming.

At the start of this journey Jet had held no qualms at all about entering a kingdom full of women who would tower above her. In fact in many respects she had been looking forward to it. But… the last week had changed her viewpoint slightly, and as much as she tried to suppress it, she was beginning to feel fear gnawing at her mind. For there had been an unusual number of unfortunate incidents over this last week, instances of bad luck that were uncommon to the cunning thief.

At first Jet had tried to shake it off as a sequence of coincidences only. Sure she’d twisted her ankle more often than someone as nimble as her should have, and taken more than a couple of tumbles, but maybe she just wasn’t use to this terrain yet, and besides she had Holly there to heal her each time. And if the number of monsters and wild animals they encountered along the way seemed uncommonly large, then that was just the reality of these lands to which she had never before been.

However, the more things that happened, the more the young thief was starting to think that the rumours of the mirror breaking curse may have been true. Some things were just harder to shake off than others. After all, there was only so many times she could put down Holly accidentally sitting on her face as a coincidence. She knew the other girl would never do that on purpose, yet lately it seemed like every time she let her head lay down the healer’s rear would find it soon after. There was always an explanation of course, a fall or disorientation from tiredness, or even that the other girl was asleep and just rolling around, but it wasn’t the kind of thing you expected to happen every day, and Holly had never been like that before in all the years that they had known each other.

If it wasn’t the other girl’s butt then it was her feet making Jet’s life difficult. On more occasions than she could count, she’d hit the ground in a fight or from yet another fall and had had the healer obliviously trample over her, stepping on her chest, or crotch, or face in shoes and bare feet alike. More than once Holly had stomped down hard enough to temporarily wind or disorient Jet and had proceeded to twist her feet while searching for the missing thief. She had even wiped her soles clean using the other girl’s face, which was made all the worse by her sudden propensity for going barefoot so frequently. Most of the time she didn’t even notice what she had done.

The rubberfy spell had only made things worse of course. Now not only did Jet have to deal with the weight of her friend’s feet and rear pressing down on her, but half the time they left behind indents that she had to struggle to remove, and her squishiness only made it harder for the healer to realise her mistakes. There was nothing quite like being woken from a nap to find that your head had somehow been reduced to a flat squishy cushion for your partner to rest her sweaty ass on.

Worse of all, on the first day of their trip Holly had eaten some wield berries that had apparently disagreed with her stomach, since she’d been stricken with terrible flatulence ever since. The thing was, it never seemed to cause the healer any visible discomfort, and indeed she appeared almost unaware of it. Yet whenever circumstances would see her butt before, or on, Jet’s face, a hot gust of wind would assault the thief’s nostrils. Just today she’d been helping the girl climb an embankment, pushing her from behind while a steady stream of farts were pushed into her face in return. And, of course, they’d only brought one tent with them, which meant Jet spent most nights trying to get to sleep among the haze of Holly’s fragrant emissions quickly filling the small confines.

All in all, Jet couldn’t deny that there was something more serious at play here than happenstance, so now that they were finally approaching the outskirts of the Giantess Kingdom, she couldn’t help but wonder if this might not be a huge mistake. If she was having this must difficulty with a normal sized woman, and her best friend at that, was she really going to be able to survive among giants?

Nevertheless, she trudged on, leading Holly towards the nearest entrance. These were the spots where humans and other smaller races could gain entrance to the kingdom beyond, and where they would be provided with the knowledge and instructions they needed to stay safe within. The only downside was that the approach required the traversal of a fairly narrow path on a hill high above a much broader route that was used by giantesses returning from outside of the kingdom. Under ordinary circumstances, the nimble thief would have tackled that path without a second thought, but right now as she climbed up Jet couldn’t help but feel like she was walking towards her doom.

Despite those misgivings, the two did make good progress for a time, and had crossed nearly half the distance to the entrance when minute tremors began to run through the ground. At first these were dismissed out of hand, but then they started to build and the sound of thunder began to sound in the distance, regular and powerful, and coming closer. With a startled gasp, Jet realised that this could only mean the approach of one or more giantesses, and she and Holly both turned to look behind them. But as she did so, the young thief’s footing slipped in the dirt…
