What You Deserve [13+] A dark poem about never being able to escape a certain form of control. |
A powerful poem indeed. Left me shuddering. The verse structure and words chosen echo the sentiment of the poem exactly. I like the way it's formatted, too. Favourite phrase: 'One sickness'. Just a thought -- Since you've ended it with the death of the father, I was wondering if you'd like to include more specific points during the life of the son, when the father controlled him ... ? Like -- as a baby/toddler, as a child, teenager, adult -- with the control getting more and more insidious and leading to the 'run away' ... ? Also, you talk about it not being about winning and losing. It isn't, in the conventional sense, but in reality, the loss is greater than in any game. I wonder if you could bring that out somehow -- it isn't about winning and losing because there is no winning for anyone, only a deep loss A couple of points that came up as I read: I couldn't quite get what you meant by 'punishments to be missed'. Grammar -- 'shadows still follows' (probably a typo!) Write On! - Sonali My review has been submitted for consideration in "Good Deeds Get CASH!" .
