Birthday Bash - Are you ready?
The time is coming. The awesome site 16th birthday celebration! September first, the balloons drop and the cake is cut. Every year, terrific things happen birthday week; like super fun contests and activities. Are you ready?
This month you'll be getting emails that will direct you to Party Central, a page which will list all the great things you can do around the site. Not only can you participate in the fun, you can earn some hefty gift points along the way. Who doesn't love gift points? There's a reviewing reward going on during the celebration, so sharpen your editor pencil and do some reviews! No only are the review rewards astronomical, but last year there was a site activity that rewarded reviewers a nice pile of gift points. Keep your eyes peeled for that announcement.
You can also try the little scrolling message games and earn some gift points too. Just click the Messenger  icon similar to this in the left column of the page and say hello to your fellow members. Our instant message system is another way to network with your fellow members. Give it a try!

All you need to do is choose one of the Olympic sports for Rio 2016, and write an Acrostic poem about your chosen sport.

All you have to do is write a small piece i.e. a short story, situation, of between 80 and 100 words using the song title as a prompt. Couldn't be easier could it. So off you go and get writing. Good luck and have fun.
Each day in October, complete an assignment from the calendar. The exercises will help you develop your novel-length story before writing it and prepare for the marathon writing of NaNoWriMo.
Every month I will post the 'cover art' from one of those great, old pulp magazines, and you will write a short story, of say, no more than a 1000 words, that best describes that cover.
Opens 1st of the month and closes last of the month. Prizes will be awarded on or near the 15th of each month.
