the purpose i see in my own life, and the lives of thoes closest to me
I have thought about life alot, in fact, we have all probably wondered why we are here since we were first born. many people have different ideas as to what our purpose on this earth is. i heard at a young age that our purpose in life was to serve god, and i agree with that, mostly. some people take that idea to the extreme, like nuns and monks they give up every thing so they can serve god.
That is their choice though, it makes them happy. and to me that is the meaning of life, what makes you happy. What nuns and monks achive, that I admire most is that they dont WANT anything more than they already have. Some people think that to be happy, they have to own lots of things, material objects that give them a sence of pride. But few of them are happy. they always want more. as humans we are all guilty of wanting more than we have, of striving to reach out for more than we need to survive.
looking at it from an evolutionary view, the only reason we are here is to reproduce. In other words sex is the meaning of life. This also agrees with my other thought, that we should do what makes us happy, sex makes lots of people happy all the time, but it can also ruin lots of things.
i have tried all of thoes ideas, (except the last one, i still havent had sex yet) and i have found that it is a combination of all of thoes, plus something more. many people call this thing love. it is the life force of all of us, we all want to be loved by someone. many of my friends put lots of energy into being loved, spending hours in front of the mirror each morning trying to look their best. their problem isnt that no one loves them, its that they dont love them selves. that is why most teenage relationships dont work out is because they become co-dependant on eachother, and it is a horrible feeling when someone elses happiness can decide your own.
to sum this all up, in my opinion the meaning of life is to serve a power higher than your self, find happiness and joy in life, and love your self. dont depend on other people to be happy, love your self, and love will find you.
