HOW CONFIDENCE CAN BE BUILT AND SHATTERED
CONFIDENCE

It all began at High School
passing notes under the desk
with no nerve to show it
not even the courage to whisper

In future using the bottle
to replace fancy writing
even a life change
could not break the cycle

As the bottle went down
destroying all that was left
tears on the pillow
anger in thy heart
no hope for this one the voice cries

With only despair for a compass
and an empty bottle for a map
going through any and all maps
before all the time circling he realised

As he grew to know
such a repetitive moment
lost to found, found to lost
from holding on to hope, to losing all

Compassion turned to anger
despair without hope
thoughts and emotions so close
yet slipping away so distant

The mind racing faster each breath
while a weary hear dragged behind
like a skeleton running a marathon
while feet and organs remain behind
